ROCHESTER — Eight students from the graphic arts program at Spaulding High
School's Richard W. Creteau Technology Center recently won awards from the
International Graphic Arts Associations Gutenberg program.
These students, Michael Blouin, Shane Caplette, Kevin Dimon, Jason Dusseault, Joshua Edgerly, Michelle Gammon, Katie Hill, and Katie Whitehouse, competed against 400 of their peers from the United States, Great Britain and Canada.
Students in the graphic arts program learn all aspects of the business from conceptual design, processing, and plate burning to production of the final product at the in-house printing lab. Their instructor, Steven Comita, encourages all students to enter their work to the Gutenberg Awards.
Each student submitting material for the Gutenberg Awards was required to submit their final product, a description of the submission and details of the processing materials that were used.
Several judges evaluated the student submissions in the categories of graphic design and electronic publishing, one-color lithography and multi-color lithography.
