Honeywell Projects Update

Mr. Kalisz reviewed the progress of Honeywell summer projects:

Annex- The boiler is completed and ready to be tested.  Most of the projects at the Annex are complete.

East Rochester -   Projects are all nearly complete at East Rochester.

Chamberlain - The unit ventilators are re-installed, the boiler is nearly ready for testing, and progress on the Honeywell projects are moving along smoothly.

William Allen -  There are significant changes that have to be made to electrical lines, sprinkler pipes and other utilities.  Honeywell is progressing with all of this work and should be completed by August 15th.  The hallways are filled with construction workers and repair materials.

Gonic - Projects are all nearly complete at Gonic School.

Other Summer Projects

Chamberlain Street School’s roof project is moving quickly.  The moving of the rock ballast off the roof created some dropped ceiling tiles in the building.  Skyline roofing agreed to pay for the materials and we are re-installing any broken tiles.  The gymnasium portion of the roof project has not begun yet, and will create a lot of dust and debris in the gym.  Mr. Kalisz has already arranged to seal the gym doors to keep the dust in the gym area.

The High School windows have arrived and are sitting in the classrooms and offices.  The Westside of the school facing the Tech Center have been installed.  The windows look great and Mr. Kalisz has worked closely with the installers to ensure a good fit.  They have decided to use fiberglass loose insulation instead of the expanding foam.  The expanding foam made the windows hard to open.

The windows for Gonic, School Street and Maple should arrive in the next few weeks.  They are on target to have all of the windows completed by the end of October.

The new bleachers have been installed at the baseball field.

Mr. Kalisz presented a proposal to remove blacktop from the three sections in front of the East Rochester School.  This would provide a planting bed.  The PTA and school staff would take care of the planting; Mr. Kalisz’s crew can remove the blacktop by borrowing the jackhammer from the public works department.

Mr. Watson moved, second by Mr. Rossi, to recommend to the Board removal of the blacktop from the front of East Rochester School. The motion passed unanimously.

The Middle School has changed several offices and is requesting a construction project.  The Assistant Principals have moved into the guidance area.  The construction project would require building four offices in the current teacher’s room.  The teacher’s room is moving upstairs into a previous special education classroom.  The construction can be completed for $1,000 in materials.  Mr. Kalisz has the funds for this project in the operation and maintenance budget at the Middle School.

Mr. Watson moved, second by Mr. Rossi, to recommend to the Board construction of the four guidance offices in the teacher’s room at the Middle School.  The motion passed unanimously.

Mr. Callaghan moved, second by Mr. Watson, to adjourn the meeting at 6:30 p.m. The motion passed unanimously.

Respectfully submitted,

Mr. John Connelly, Chair
