DEIP Process

The DEIP identifies members serving on sub-committees and develops action plans. Each sub-committee has a facilitator. The role of the facilitator is to schedule meetings, set an agenda, develop, with the committee, action plans, and provide communication between sub-committees. One member of each sub-committee is responsible for taking notes of the meetings and returning these to Michael Hopkins.

The DEIP process is coordinated by Michael Hopkins, the Assistant Superintendent of Schools.

The structure for organizing the improvement plan utilizes the three sub-committees and the continual improvement process. The continual improvement process will focus on customer service, statistical analysis, team building, action plans, and a continual improvement. The continual improvement process and action plans will develop methods for communication and coordination; information for decision making, annual targets for improvement, and a schedule for goal based activity.

The DEIP committee represents all groups in the community. The committee continues to expand as its work expands. The continual improvement process is a proven procedure that has been adapted with training materials by Executive Learning. The communication among groups has been effective. The full DEIP committee has agreed on a new mission statement and three goals for the district. The district has a policy revision committee that meets quarterly. They revised all policies in April of 1993 and have continually updated policies and procedures. The curriculum development will follow the state frameworks, which have be checked for gender/racial bias. All new curriculum frameworks and materials will be reviewed for gender/racial bias. The assessment sub-committee has developed a district-wide action plan for assessment.

The action plans are linked to district goals. The Assessment sub-committee will be using data to assess the curriculum frameworks and student performance. This data and analysis will determine the areas for improvement.

The Rochester School District is currently in compliance with the State Minimum Standards.

The professional development sub-committee, in conjunction with the District Staff Development Committee, has integrated the professional development components into all action plans.
