Class Rank

A Student’s GPA will be multiplied by the total number of credits earned to a maximum of eight credits per year, to establish “quality point total” (QPT). QPT, will be used to determine class rank. The purpose for this school board approved change is to reward students who take more rigorous classes and it will also reward students who take a greater number of classes up to a maximum of eight credits per year.

Beginning with the class of 2009 ranking will be by GPA only.

Credits for Class Standing

Class standing is determined by the number of credits a student has at the end of a school year.

Sophomore: 5 credits minimum
Junior: 11 credits minimum
Senior: 18 credits minimum

Grade Point Average (GPA)

Grade point average (GPA) is the total number of grade points accumulated, using the weighted scale shown above, divided by the total number of credits attempted. A weighted scale is used to reward students who take more rigorous
classes.

Honor Roll

High Honors: to achieve High Honors a student must earn no grade below 93 in any course (except Honors and Advanced Placement level), with a minimum of three full blocks. Students in an Honors or Advanced Placement course can earn a grade of 93 and still qualify for High Honors.

Numerical grades are used for student report cards. The weights for academic grades are listed below.
Grade 98-100 = A+ 4.50 Enriched 5.00 Honors/AP 5.50
Grade 95-97 = A 4.25 Enriched 4.75 Honors/AP 5.25
Grade 93-94 = A- 4.00 Enriched 4.50 Honors/AP 5.00
Grade 91-92 = B+ 3.50 Enriched 4.00 Honors/AP 4.50
Grade 88-90 = B 3.20 Enriched 3.75 Honors/AP 4.25
Grade 85-87 = B- 3.00 Enriched 3.50 Honors/AP 4.00
Grade 83-84 = C+ 2.50 Enriched 3.00 Honors/AP 3.50
Grade 80-82 = C 2.25 Enriched 2.75 Honors/AP 3.25
Grade 77-79 = C- 2.00 Enriched 2.50 Honors/AP 3.00
Grade 75-76 = D+ 1.50 Enriched 1.50 Honors/AP 1.50
Grade 72-74 = D 1.25 Enriched 1.25 Honors/AP 1.25
Grade 70-71 = D- 1.00 Enriched 1.00 Honors/AP 1.00
Grade 0-69 = F 0 Enriched 0 Honors/AP 0
NOTE: Many colleges will convert a prospective student’s GPA to a 4.0 scale. Your current GPA is lower when converted to a 4.0 scale.
