DANGEROUS WEAPONS IN THE SCHOOLS

Dangerous weapons (knives, guns, firecrackers, brass knuckles, etc.) are not permitted on school property.  Students in possession will have weapons confiscated, and parents notified. The administration is authorized to suspend any student possessing a dangerous weapon while in school buildings, on school property, while riding a school bus, or at any function held under the name of the Rochester School System, for a period of time not to exceed twenty school days.  The Administration will refer all such cases to the School Board Discipline Committee for possible further action to include additional suspension or expulsion.

Any pupil found by the School Board to knowingly possess a firearm in a safe school zone, as defined by RSA 193-D:1, Paragraph II, without the express written authorization of the superintendent or designee shall be expelled from school.  The expulsion will be subject to review, if requested, prior to the start of each subsequent school year and will be subject to appeal to the state board of education.
