INJURY TO A CHILD GETTING ON OR OFF THE BUS

In the event of an injury getting on or off the bus or while the child is being transported, the bus driver shall act in a prudent manner giving due consideration for the nature of the injury. Such action could include: (1) notifying the school district, via two-way radio, of the injury, (2) driving to the nearest school and reporting it to the principal; (3) contacting the parent, if available; (4) calling emergency assistance; and (5) driving directly to the emergency room at the hospital. On no event should a child that is visibly injured be told to return home unless parents are contacted.
