STUDENT TEACHERS AND INTERNS
The School Board recognizes the student teacher program and other internship classes and programs as important aspects of a future teacher's education. Therefore, the Board will cooperate with institutions of higher education in training student teachers and interns.
All persons involved in the program must recognize that the first and primary responsibility of the district is to the students within its schools. If at any time a student teacher or intern becomes unacceptable, the district reserves the right to refuse that individual further teaching experience within the district.
Student teachers and interns who work in the school district shall be accepted only after approval of the Superintendent and the Principal of the building in which the person is to teach.
Student teachers are restricted to not more than three non-consecutive days of substitute teaching, except in emergency situations. Student interns who have not completed the university course work required for student teaching will not be permitted to substitute as part of the internship program.
