The World Almanac is filled
with more than a million facts about a vast amount of subjects
(i.e., current events, people, countries, entertainment, science,
sports, etc.) and is easy to use. It has three types of indexes:
(1) The Quick Thumb Index, that you will find on the back
cover,
will help guide you to broad categories of information quickly.
To use this index just move your thumb from the topic on the
back cover to its matching black-edged pages, and open the
book.
(2) The Quick Reference Index, located on the
last page of the almanac, is more specific than the Quick
thumb index. You can use this index to locate facts about
general topics. The topics are listed in alphabetical order.
(3) Unlike most indexes the General Index of
the almanac (prior to the 2003 edition) is located at the
front of the book. This index is the most specific of the
three. The General Index has an alphabetical list of main
topics (key words or phrases) in boldfaced type. There are
often subtopics listed under the main topic. In the 2003 edition
of the World Almanac the General Index is located at the back
of the book.
