The MLA Style of Documentation
|
A works cited page lists all sources directly cited with
parenthetical references in your paper. A bibliography includes
all those sources and any others that you may have used as background,
but did not directly cite. A works cited page is required for all
research papers. Ask your teacher if a works cited page or a combination
of the two will be required for a particular assignment.
When
you write your works cited page follow the steps below:
- Begin
works cited page on a new page (next page after the body of
the report).
- Center
the title Works Cited one inch from the top.
- Begin
each entry flush with the left margin.
- If
entry is more than one line, indent additional lines five spaces.
- Double-space
between all lines.
- Single-space
between words and after punctuation marks.
- List
each entry alphabetically by the author's last name.
- If
there is no author, use the first word of the title.
- Disregard
A, An, The.
