This summer, you will be reading the book Chasing Vermeer. You can get the book at the public library or at a local bookstore. After reading, you will choose from one of the projects below.
Due date: The project will be due to your reading teacher by Friday, August 29th.
Grading: This project will be graded based on how well it shows your understanding of the book, and the grade will be counted as up to 10 percent of your first-quarter Reading grade. Your project will need to be signed by a parent or guardian to be accepted.
Project options—choose one:
Write a book review that includes a short summary of the plot
along with your opinion of Chasing Vermeer. How would you describe
this book? How would you describe the characters? What was the
best part? Who would you recommend this book to? How many stars
out of five would you rate this book? You can even email your
review of this book, a book from the recommended list, or any
other book to Mrs. Carloni to have it published on the school
website.
OR
Rewrite the book in the form of a comic book. Choose what you think are the most important scenes in the book and turn them into a comic book with pictures, captions, and dialogue.
OR
Write a chapter or two from the book as a scene from a play. Make sure to include a narrator, characters, and stage directions. If you want, you can ask your teacher to let you act out your play in class in September!
Remember: Make sure to have your parent or guardian sign your project before you turn it in!
