Geometry & Measurement Concepts - area & perimeter explorers; surface area & volume, angles, tesselations, image tool

What's My Angle - Great to use with a projector to introduce how to measure with a protractor. Also has problems to test measuring skill.

Cutouts - Turn a two-dimensinal cutout of a shape into a 3-dimensional one and rotate it in space. Very cool.

MathsNet Sketches - What is an isosceles triangle? Students can pull up a sketch of an isosceles triangle and manipulate the vertexes. They should notice that 2 of the sides always stay equal in length. Also has "What is.. a circle, equilateral triangle, parallelogram, quadrilateral, rectangle, regular hexagon, square and scalene triangle." Also has "what is meant by ...parallel, perpendicular, corresponding angles and alternate angles".

They also have interactive constructions. They have 3 levels: foundation, intermediate and advanced. Foundation has 3 sections: points, lines and circles. Each section has 12 lessons. Students can go at their own speed.

Rectangles - Examine the relationships between perimeter, area, length, and width of a rectangle. Draw a rectangle and set perimeter or area as constant. Then drag the shape and watch how the length and width change to keep the other factor constant. Excellent to use with the pig pens problem (see Tech Library).

Perimeter - Drag boxes onto the screen creating larger shapes. Calculate the perimeter and then check your work. Area is also listed.

Exploring Quadrilaterals: sides and angles -Students can explore characteristics of parallelograms, quadrilaterasl, rhombus, squars, trapezoids. The shapes are already drawn with lengths and angle measures given. Students can drag the shape to different sizes maintaining their attributes. Questions to be answered: Are the sides parallel, perpenducular, congruent? How do the angles relate to each other? A table is included that students can fill in.
