Early Childhood Education

In this class you will have the wonderful opportunity to work directly with young children and to watch them grow and learn throughout the year, as you learn from them! You will work with three, four, and five year old children in the Small Wonders Learning Center. You will also spend time in a community child-care center, kindergarten or elementary school. You will learn about being a preschool teacher and planning appropriate activities in the areas of music, art, movement, science, language, math, and social studies. Successful completers of the two-year program receive a certificate that recognizes them as Child Care Workers by the Bureau of Child Care Licensing of the NH Department of Health and Human Services. If you enter the child care field after graduation you will be eligible for more responsibilities and more pay with this credential. If you further your education, articulation credits may be available through some of the two-year colleges in NH. Many students are involved with the student organization, FCCLA, which offers opportunities for community service, leadership, trips, and conferences, including state and national competitions.
