Rochester School District is excited to announce that Ainsley Gordon, a fifth-grade student at Maple Street Magnet School, has been selected to serve on the New Hampshire Kid Governor Executive Council. This honor recognizes Ainsley's dedication to leadership and her passion for advocacy. As a member of the Executive Council, she will serve a one-year term, using her platform to make a positive impact on her community and state.
In New Hampshire's Kid Governor program, seven students are selected as finalists each year from over 1,800 fifth graders from around the state. One is selected as the Kid Governor while the other six are selected to serve on the Executive Council to the Kid Governor.
Ainsley’s campaign, which focuses on environmental responsibility, specifically aims to tackle littering and promote recycling throughout New Hampshire. Her platform highlights the importance of individual actions in protecting the environment and encourages students to take part in efforts that help preserve the state’s natural beauty.
In addition to her new role, Ainsley and her classmates are invited to attend the 2025 New Hampshire Kid Governor and Executive Council Inauguration on January 28, 2025 at the State House in Concord, NH. The event will run from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM, with a snow date scheduled for January 31. This special ceremony will formally inaugurate Ainsley and her fellow council members, marking the beginning of their work to bring about meaningful change in New Hampshire.
“We are incredibly proud of Ainsley’s achievement and are excited to see the impact she will have during her time on the Executive Council,” said Annie Azarloza, Rochester School District superintendent. “Her initiative and dedication to environmental causes reflect the values we strive to instill in our students. Ainsley is an excellent example of how young people can make a difference in their communities.”
Gordon is the second student from Maple Street Magnet School to serve on the New Hampshire Kid Governor Executive Council in as many years.
