School Safety is a top priority at McClelland! On an evening where we hope everyone is able to access celebrations safely, we thought we would take the opportunity to share with our community what to expect if there was an emergency that involves our school.
While it is our hope that we never have to use it, our school has a safety plan focusing on a variety of situations that our students and staff have practiced.
The teachers know what they need to do, and the students know what they need to do. We need help from parents too! When schools have emergencies, it’s commonly reported that parents and family members come to the school, making it diffcult for the emergency vehicles and personnel to access the building.
We are asking parents to give us the room we need by not coming to the building until it has been declared safe and we send out a message letting you know it’s clear. We recognize this is a huge request, and appreciate your willingness to grant it.
Since we are asking for your help… we need our phone lines to communicate with emergency agencies, and other entities. We would appreciate you limiting your phone calls to the school when possible so that we can focus on keeping people safe and managing the situation as calmly as possible. We ask for your patience and understanding when you do call. The school will send out a message letting you know the status of the situation.
As with educating your child, we are most successful when we are all working together. Please know how much we appreciate you!
