Hello McClelland Families! Just a quick reminder that tomorrow, Thursday, April 21, is Spring Picture Day! Please remember to order online or send in a picture order form and payment with you child tomorrow if you'd like them to be photographed.
It's Assistant Principal Appreciation Week!
Thank you Mrs. Keough for all that you do for the McClelland community. Shoutout to all @RochNHSchool AP's - Turgeon, Detroia, Randall, Green, Katsonis, Bushway - for the hard work you do each day to make our community better.
Mrs. Forsley looks for positives every day as highlighted by her monthly shout out board! What positive did you find in someone else today? #upliftothers
April Fools all over the place at McClelland today! These kinders were tricky as they delivered BROWN Es instead of BROWNIES around the school! Mrs. Jerr’s dinosaur is excited to have it as a snack. #schoolisfun
Mrs. Bergeron’s Brainiacs earn pompoms for showing caring acts. You are loved, so pass it on! #upliftothers #mightymac
Message from McClelland School:
We will return to an OUTDOOR morning recess beginning tomorrow! Please be sure your child is dressed appropriately for some fresh air and fun if they are dropped off between 8-8:25.
This week, 5th Grade learned about the second half of the Sweet 16 for Composer March Madness! Each class, students will click the link to CMM on the Fifth Grade music website: http://gon-mcl-music.weebly.com/fifth-grade-classroom.html
The Sweet 16 are: Franz Liszt, Antonin Dvorak, Pyotr Illyich Tchaikovsky, Camille Saint-Saens, Johannes Brahms, George Friedrich Handel, Johann Sebasti.an Bach, Franz Schubert, Antonio Vivaldi,Modest Mussorgsky, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Claude Debussy, Ludwig van Beethoven,
Frederic Chopin, Clara Schumann, and Robert Schumann
Each composer has a page with a short biography and some selections from their music to listen to. Students can be surprised at which composers they are already familiar with. Students have now voted for their preferred 8-- but how many will reach the Elite 8? Do you and your student prefer the same composers, or do you differ in your opinions?
Thank you to our parent volunteers that made our ice cream day a success!
LUCKY to be ME! The rainbows around our school represent all of the positive self talk we’ve focused on over the last two weeks. These are constant reminders about how much we shine. We are LOVED!
Our amazing students earned over $7,000 during our Read-A-Thon! As a reward they got to turn Principal Jerr and Assistant Principal Keough into ice cream sundaes. Yum!
What's an IXL smart score?
Fun in Kindergarten!
World Down Syndrome Day is marked each year on March 21st, beginning in 2006. The 21st day of March was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication of the 21st chromosome which causes down syndrome. One way to help bring awareness on this day is to wear some crazy socks! The reasoning behind the socks is because chromosomes look a bit like socks.
Here are some versions of Rattlin' Bog that have been posted in the music classroom websites for each grade:

Fun day at McClelland! Singing together as a school, dancing a jig and we even found our very own leprechaun - Mr Bill!

To be able to learn about different composers from music history. Each composer has a page with a short biography and some selections from their music to listen to. Students can be surprised at which composers they are already familiar with. This week, we started with one half of the Sweet Sixteen... and students voted for their preferred composer of each pair.
Who did your student prefer? Why? Do you know any of these composers? Stay tuned to see who makes it through to the Elite Eight!
Thank you Wildlife Encounters for the visit today! First grade had a WILD time learning about animals!
